Program details

A play-based developmental preschool for 2- to 5-year-olds offering morning and full-day classes, weekly music and gym specials, and an interfaith curriculum.

Age range

The school-year program serves children ages 2 through 5, with separate classes for 2-year-olds, 3-year-olds, and 4-year-olds (by age as of December 1). A separate summer camp serves children 18 months to 5 years.

Daily schedule

Morning classes run Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Full-day classes (9:00 AM to 3:00 PM) are available for 3s and 4s. A typical morning moves through arrival and free-play learning centers, circle time, snack and quiet reading, playground time, and a closing story circle.

Extended hours

Optional early drop-off is offered daily from 8:30-9:00 AM ($15 per day, limited to 10 children). LunchBunch runs 12:00-1:00 PM Tuesday-Friday, and afternoon enrichment options extend the day further (to 1:30 PM for 2s and up to 3:00 PM for 3s and 4s).

Curriculum

A play-based, developmental program where children learn through hands-on activities such as sand and water exploration, language arts, cooking, art, music, block play, dramatic play, and puzzles. Thematic units build early readiness in reading, math, and science, and an interfaith curriculum introduces a variety of cultural traditions and beliefs.

Specials & enrichment

Children take part in a weekly 30-minute music class with a music specialist and a weekly 30-minute movement and pre-gymnastics class with an exercise specialist from 'Gym on Wheels.' The year also includes visits from community helpers and field trips to Teatown Lake Preserve and Muscoot Farm.

Meals

Snack is provided daily by the school, and children in LunchBunch and full-day programs eat lunch together as a shared social activity. Confirm lunch arrangements (packed vs provided) directly with the center.

Staff

The center is led by Program Director Katya Montelbano, and each classroom is staffed with a head teacher and a teacher assistant. Head teachers hold degrees in education or related fields, and all staff complete at least 15 hours of professional development each year. The center partners with Pace University's Early Childhood Education program to mentor student teachers.

Licensing

The center is fully licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.

Enrollment

Applications are considered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, handicap, or national origin, and a meeting with the child and parent is required before enrollment. Registration includes a $100 non-refundable application fee, with priority given to current families, siblings, alumni, and church members before community registration opens. A limited number of scholarships is available.

Tuition

Tuition is set annually and varies by age group and the number of mornings or full days, ranging from a couple of mornings a week up to five full days. Payment is spread across five installments after a non-refundable deposit, with monthly payment plans available in cases of hardship. Confirm current rates directly with the center.

Summer camp

An eight-week summer camp is offered for children 18 months to 5 years old, with families able to attend one week, several weeks, or all eight. Camp details are typically released in late winter ahead of spring registration.
